The Olympics
The Olympics and Para Olympics are now very close. Businesses need to plan for the inevitable disruption. Special lanes for Olympic traffic, cabbies boycotting some areas, packed tubes trains and buses all adds up to increased costs and lost profits. Combine that with staff wanting to take time off to avoid the chaos and some cases time to go to the event means real trouble for business managers.
As with most things the answer lies with planning and technology. Many businesses already use remote technologies to allow people to work remotely but making sure this technology is working at its best and that users are getting the best out of it while still keeping the company secure is another matter. Many companies allow users to use technology like logmein or gotomypc or other similar packages. It is not uncommon for users to have installed this software without authority, even in some cases on servers. While this might give the user access to their computer it puts total control of that technology in the hands of the user who is in many cases not going to consider the needs of the company. In many cases these systems cost money and compromise the network. Due to here nature these applications are not restricted by firewalls because they are running on company computers and often all out bound traffic is allowed.
Many companies are even paying for something they can already do in a different and more secure way for free.
What is needed is a plan that considers the needs of the users and the business while keeping the company network and data safe. Atomik.biz Ltd can provide that service.
