Exchange Services
Having a dedicated email server for a small number of users might not be cost effective. The alternative would be for your email to be hosted on our server. Our servers are monitored by us, have good quality antivirus protection, are practically spam free and are backed up reliably. We offer web access for when you are away from your PC, Outlook for when you are not. We also support connection using push email to suitable smart phones. We give advice on choice of hardware and offer a personal service to support users that larger companys are unable to match. This service is charged per mailbox and is independent of the number of devices that connect to it.

Spam Protection
Spam or Unsolicited Commercial Email is here to stay or at least until technology changes dramatically. Unfortunately when email was being invented security was not a concern and it is its simple nature and lack of security that make sending Spam so easy. Many people ask why do spammers do it? If they did not make money out of it they would not go to all the trouble. Although everyone hates receiving SPAM a small percentage of people buy product as a result of receiving spam. Many also fall for the scams that are promoted by spam.
As with most things in IT there are several ways to combat spam.
- For companys using POP email; then many Internet Service Providers (ISP) will block spam for you. This is often free but there is often no way to recover mails that should not have been blocked. POP is a very basic email collection protocol and is not the best choice for companys with their own email server.
- Software on the users PC is another solution but it has to be installed and administered, often by the user.
- Companys with email servers will often have anti spam software combined with the antivirus software on the server. This can be a good solution but the spam takes up bandwidth on the company Internet connections before being rejected.
- The last alternative is to use an external SPAM filtering service. The way this works is that all email for a companys domain is routed to the service. The service cleans the email of viruses and spam and forwards the good email to the company's email server. This service will even be able to filter out invalid recipient names by maintaining a list of valid recipients which it updates automatically from the email server. There are many advantages of this system. No band width is taken up with SPAM. Software does not need to be updated regularly on servers and workstations and it is easy to monitor and is good value for money.
